Welcome - Head Boy and Head Girl
Welcome from Xander, Our Head Boy

Hello and welcome to Carleton House Preparatory School.
At Carleton House, I feel really proud to be part of such a close and friendly community. One of the things I love most is how children from all different years know each other and play together — it makes our school feel like one big family.
Some of my favourite experiences have been the residential trips, from ziplining and kayaking to orienteering and grass sledging. They’re always full of adventure and fun. Spending time away with friends and teachers helps us grow in confidence and gives us memories that we’ll never forget.
Sport is another highlight of life here. There are so many chances to take part — from football, dodgeball, swimming and athletics to our own interhouse events and sports days. Everyone gets a chance to represent the school, which makes it really fair and exciting. I love the teamwork and determination involved, and the feeling of pride when we achieve something together.
Carleton House also celebrates special occasions together in the most wonderful way. The Christmas Carol concerts and celebrations are magical, filling the whole school with festive spirit. At the other end of the year, our summer plays bring everyone together, giving us the chance to perform and showcase our talents on stage. It’s always such a fun way to finish the year.
Life in the classroom is just as rewarding. I especially enjoy Maths where we solve tricky problems and puzzles, and sometimes even play games like Murder Mystery on Fridays! Science is another favourite, with fascinating topics such as the circulatory system and how our bodies work. Carleton House also gives us brilliant creative opportunities through Art, DT and Music. Every child has the chance to learn an instrument, and one of the best experiences is singing with the choir at Young Voices in Manchester. It’s an unforgettable moment that makes you feel part of something huge.
Being chosen as Head Boy is a great honour, and I’m proud to represent a school that has given me so many amazing opportunities. Carleton House is a very special place, where we learn, play, celebrate and grow together, and I’ll always carry the memories and friendships I’ve made here with me.
A Warm Welcome from our Head Girl Rose

A happy and inspiring place to learn! In school I am Head Girl and I am Rose. To become Head Girl, Year 5 and 6 vote for who they think would be a good fit.
At Carleton House we are lucky to have many learning opportunities in many different subjects.
The staff are kind and supportive.
At school I feel safe and happy.
I have made great friends.
Our lessons are fun and creative.
We have several sports teams. I am in the Cross-Country team, and we have won several medals for school.
We are a musical school, and we are encouraged to play an instrument to develop our skills. We have a talented orchestra and choir, and we regularly put on performances. At Christmas the choir sings at the Metropolitan Cathedral and once a year we perform as part of the fantastic Young Voices Choir in Manchester.
From Year 3 onwards we have exciting school residential trips annually.
Whilst away we do a host of activities such as archery, abseiling and kayaking. There is lots of team building involved.
Carleton House offers a variety of after-school clubs. A particular favourite of mine is Cookery Club with our talented chef Brian.
I have also participated in Debate Club which has developed my public speaking.
We have school council which has representatives from Year 1 to Year 6.
In Year 6 we have extra roles such as prefects, Head Boy, Head Girl and deputies. We support the Nursery and Reception children as they start their Carleton House journey.
I feel very lucky to have been part of the Carleton House family. I have achieved a lot along my way, thanks to the wonderful teachers. I want to say a huge thank you to Carleton House for helping me grow.
